The starting day of the Mt. Fuji climbing season is 1 July. On the eve of its opening, an event is held on 30 June every year in Fujiyoshida announcing the start of the season. A parade of Fujiko pilgrims and locals to Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is followed by a series of Shinto ceremonies there.
