Giant Sacred Rock Guided Hiking Tour - Ishiwari Mountain and Shrine

Giant Sacred Rock Guided Hiking Tour - Ishiwari Mountain and Shrine

Power spot experience. Going up the stone steps to reach the auspicious giant sacred rock of Ishiwari Shrine.

Tour Description

This 5-hour private guided tour goes hiking in a mountain where you discover and experience the giant sacred rock that attracts many visitors.

At an altitude of 1413m, Mt. Ishiwari in Yamanakako (the village itself is about 1000m in altitude) is popular for hiking trails and you can overlook Mt. Fuji and Lake Yamanakako from the summit.
In 8th station (about 1300m in altitude) of the mountain, Ishiwari shrine is enshrined and lower part of the approach to the shrine is long, straight stone stairs.

The object of worship is a big rock with a height of about 15m. Ishiwari, the name of the shrine, is reportedly from the fact that the cracks in the rock look like the Japanese Kanji character of stone "ishi". In the sheer big rock, there is a mysterious gap which is about 60cm wide and about 15m long and it is said that passing through it 3 times clockwise will bring good fortune.
It is one of the leading power spots in Mt. Fuji area.
